Middle School/High School Book Club - 10/25/24
Middle School book: Toliver’s Secret by Esther Wood Brady
High School book: The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain
We had a great time for book club in September and can’t wait to do it again!
⏰ When: October 25th
⏰ Time: 10:30-12 (pack a lunch if you’d like, and the kids can stay and get to know each other until 2:00)
🏠 Where: Kristina Bota’s house - 4197 Fenn Rd, Medina, 44256 (if we have a large number we may get a room at the library)
⭐️ You can stay or drop off your kids. Due to space we may not have room for younger siblings to stay during this event.
✅ Kristina and Chelsea will be leading the Middle School discussion of Toliver’s Secret
✅ Sharon will be leading the high schoolers through a discussion of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Please make sure your copy of the book is unabridged. Please note: Tom Sawyer was written in 1876 and reflects the language and culture of the time. There is also racism and violence depicted in the book. This is a function of the character’s views, not necessarily the author’s.
To your students: Please have the book read before we meet and bring your book with you. Use post-it flags to mark any passages that stand out to you in any way. 😊
Comment below or text Sharon if you have any questions about the high school book.
